Text Box: Season’s Greetings from
Text Box: “Praise be to the Lord, the G-d of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people.”
Luke 1:40-68
Seasons Greetings to all. May this letter find you well, and I hope that you have a happy and healthy New Year.
Well, another year and yes, another form letter, but it is one way to keep in touch if only for this “once a year” thing.
Another hectic year. Tres, who is now 11 ½ and in 6th grade is a natural at Baseball (he even looks a little bit like R. Redford). His coach calls him the little Mark McGuire when he is at bat. He has tried his hand at pitching and follows the motto “If you can’t strike them out, KNOCK them out.” He is also in band, playing the (ugh) drums. However, he was one of the few kids who had 2 years of piano and yes, he is still taking piano lessons and earned his first trophy this November. Tres was in Camp Champions this year again – for 3 weeks. Next year for four weeks. (I will be a complete basket case.). Tres is also an avid scuba diver and beginning underwater photographer. He actually won an award for pictures on the first roll of film he ever took under water.
This has also been a SCUBA kind of year. Between teaching adult students and certifying (mentally, that is) them in Cozumel this past summer, our gift to all of Tres’ friends for their 12th birthday is scuba lessons for FREE. What an experience!!!! Can you imagine seven 11-12 year olds huddled on the floor in your living room twice a week trying to make sense out of diving physics and decompression tables. Anyway, when we are not teaching for fun, we go diving. This year we will have spent 6 + weeks in Cozumel. Yup we are going to be there for Christmas and the millennium – we plan to be underwater at the stroke of midnight. What a way to remember the millennium!!!
Melodie had her 20th high school reunion (yup, she’s that old) this summer. She was more impressed with the preservation of the women than the men. In November, we drove back to El Paso for Thanksgiving. Heidi and her friend, Shawn, also drove out and together with my parents, we did Juarez (without getting shot) and Old Mesilla. Had a great time being with everyone, but missed my brother Mark. From what I hear Mark cooked dinner in Denver for his family, after calling B.J. several times for the “how toos.”
Arthur has been busy with his law practice, “honey do’s,” being a scuba instructor and the most wonderful “Daddy” to Tres. Last January, Arthur received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Diving from NAUI. This year, Melodie will receive one as well. You know we have to keep tradition in the family.
