VOLUME VI
Text Box: Season’s Greetings from
The Geffen Family
Text Box: Well, it is December 2002 and time to try to recap a years worth of stuff in one page. Hope that this epistle finds all of you well.

Last year we reported that Tres had won 3rd place in our underwater photography club’s Photographer of the Year Novice Division. Well, he did it again. I wonder if that means he is not getting any better. Who knows? I (Melodie, the one who must be obeyed), won second place in the Novice Division. That is thanks to Armando (DAAD) and Holly (Mommmm!!) Alentado, our dear friends from Cozumel, Q. Roo, Mexico via Cuba and Miami and yes, Colorado.

Believe it or not, Tres is now 14 ½ years old. Well into adolescence (or should I say obsolescence) and puberty (UGH!). He is now in 9th grade – a freshman in high school and is doing well in school. He also participates in multiple extracurricular activities. He is in the percussion section of the school band and is 1st chair. Percussion means he plays the drums and, of course, has to practice. I wish you could be here between 4:30 and 5:30 every weekday afternoon so that someone could advise me on what the best earplugs are and what the best medicine is for headaches. He still takes piano lessons and seems to be a little musician at heart. His accomplishments on these instruments have led him to participate in reach out meetings at Church. He is also a youth member of the Board (Bored) of the Church. He still excels at piano and has received two “ones” in piano festival competition. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Tres went to Houston with the Church for a Glory Bound Youth Meeting and has, as well, spent time with the Church and Habitat for Humanity building homes for the underprivileged. In addition to all of that, before he went to camp last summer for a month, he played catcher on a baseball team and liked it so much that he played “Fall Ball” for the Dallas Knights, a select BBI baseball team.

Arthur and I have not been up to much. We managed a trip to Cozumel last spring with Tres and then our two week soirée (when Tres is at sleep away camp) back to Cozumel to reacquaint ourselves. Those three weeks were the only chance we’ve had to practice our underwater photography skills. We are also pursuing our cooking skills. We just finished a class on how to make Tamales and we were fortunate enough to have front row seats for a demonstration by Michael Chiarello.

Arthur’s daughter, Wendi, finished rabbinical school last May and is now a Rabbi for a huge congregation outside of Chicago.

Well if you’re ever in Dallas give us a call at 972-381-8885 or email us (Arthur: ageffen@iadfw.net – Melodie: melodie@sbcglobal.net – Tres: tres@sbcglobal.net ) or you can check out what we’re doing on our website -http://pages.sbcglobal.net/ageffen/myweb/
